Samara Cole Doyon (Portland, ME) is both a second-generation Haitian American and a proud Mainer, with half of the roots of her family tree reaching generations deep into the soil of the Pine Tree State. She is a freelance writer, teacher, wife, and mother. She has been a regular contributor at Black Girl In Maine Media and has been featured in the “Deep Water” poetry column of the Portland Press Herald.

In 2019, they gave a viral TED Talk on the importance of talking to kids about gender and sexuality.

Whether you are meeting a dog for the first time or own a dog yourself, all are welcome to greet our friendly, four-legged therapy dog friends. Come hang out, read a book, sing a song, or explore dog training with a certified therapy dog and its caregiver. Therapy dogs will be visiting with a trained adult in the 3rd floor IDEXX STEM Learning Hub and would love to say "hi" to you if you wish.

Join us for the Science for Tots series! This is a weekly program designed for children ages 2-5 and their caregivers. Each week, experience a different activity based on the theme of the month. This month, we turn our eyes to the skies. Join us for hands-on space-themed activities, including exploring craters with rocks and playdough, painting new planets, and creating star constellation art. Registration Required.

Afterschool Experiences: Theatre Squad: Fantasy World (ages 8 to 10)

On the first day of this theatre class, you and the squad of theatre makers will create a map of a fantasy world. You will decide what kind of beasts, monsters and creatures live in this fantasy world, and these beings will inspire your character. Over the course of the class, you will bring this world to life and develop the story of how it came to be and what will happen next.

This drop-off workshop series meets weekly on Tuesdays from 3:45 pm - 5:15 pm for 5 weeks from April 23 to May 21: 4/23, 4/30, 5/7, 5/14, 5/21.

Science takes on a magical form as we make color-changing cookies, use dry ice to transform states of matter, and create fanciful treats like caldron cakes! For future magical making, we will compile our spellbinding snacks in a potions notebook.
