Celebrate Book Week in CMTM's Maddy’s Theatre through the magic of storytelling. Three beloved local authors will be sharing their latest children's books, featuring heartwarming tales of inclusion and inspiring journeys of self-discovery. Meet the authors and listen as they bring their newly released children's books to life. Don't miss this opportunity to join a welcoming community of readers and dreamers.

Samara Cole Doyon is presenting the new release Next Level: from the award-winning team behind Magnificent Homespun Brown, Samara Cole Doyon, and Coretta Scott King Award Honoree Kaylani Juanita, comes a song of gratitude for those who see the world in a different way. Samara Cole Doyon (Portland, ME) is both a second-generation Haitian American and a proud Mainer, with half of the roots of her family tree reaching generations deep into the soil of the Pine Tree State. She is a freelance writer, teacher, wife, and mother. She has been a regular contributor at Black Girl In Maine Media and has been featured in the “Deep Water” poetry column of the Portland Press Herald. Minquansis Sapiel is a Passamaquoddy TribaI member, mother of three daughters and has a Masters in Social Work. Her daughter also illustrated the children’s book she wrote Little People of the Dawn. She grew up on the Sipayik Reservation and moved off to go to college at the University of Maine. She also has her Captain’s license and offers whale-watching tours. Join her at 11 am or 1:30 pm for her presentations.

Lindz Amer (they/them) makes queer stuff for kids and families. They started on this wild and winding career path when they created Queer Kid Stuff—an award-winning original LGBTQ+ educational web series for all ages—that has reached millions of families. They perform at libraries, schools, and theaters all over the world, spreading queer joy and working on numerous projects that bring queer and trans representation into mainstream children's media. In 2019, they gave a viral TED Talk on the importance of talking to kids about gender and sexuality. Join them at 11:30 am or 2 pm for their presentations.
